Comenzó jugando tenis porque su hermano mayor Raúl (ocho años más grande) jugaba... Raúl se convirtió en coach para la Federación de Tenis de Cataluña... Llegó a semifinales en su primera aparición en un torneo ATP en Stuttgart 2001... Luego de dos triunfos en las clasificaciones, ganó cuatro partidos más, incluyendo una sobre su ídolo Sergi Bruguera... Desde entonces ha disputado mayormente el ATP Challenger Circuit... Admite que a veces es frustrante... Su meta es meterse entre los Top 100... Su padre es Eduardo López y su madre Pilar Tarres... Habla un poco de inglés... Disfruta yendo al cine y escuchando música.
