Su nombre completo es Leonardo Martín Mayer... su apodo es Leo... Comenzó a jugar tenis a los cinco años... Su padre, Orlando, trabaja en un banco; su madre, Estela, es profesora... Tiene dos hermanos, Gabriel y Walter, y una hermana, Verónica... Su superficie preferida es la arcilla y considera la derecha su mayor fortaleza... Su pasatiempo favorito es jugar fútbol... Fue uno de los mejores juveniles en 2005, llegando a ser No. 2 en junio antes de terminar No. 5... Alcanzó seis finales consecutivas entre febrero y mayo, ganando títulos en Perú, Uruguay, Paraguay y Brasil... También fue finalista en Argentina y Brasil... 2012 -- The Argentine finished a year-end best No. 72, his 4th straight Top 100 ranking...Closed season with QF or better in 4 Challengers, including final in Medellin and title in Guayaquil...His best ATP World Tour results were 2 QF, in São Paulo (l. to Bellucci) and Los Angeles (l. to Ram)...In Grand Slam play, reached 3R at Roland Garros for 3rd year in a row (d. Rochus, No. 26 Kohlschreiber, l. to No. 12 Almagro)...His win over Kohlschreiber was his highest-ranked of season...Compiled records of 8-5 on clay, 5-7 on hard and 1-2 on grass... 

2011 -- The Argentine finished in Top 100 for 3rd straight year, highlighted by successful Challenger campaign (37-14record) with 3-2 mark in clay finals...Ranking fell to No. 217 going into Roland Garros where he qualified and reached 3R for 2nd year in a row (d. Brown, Baghdatis, l. to Soderling)...His best Challenger results came in 2nd half of year with title in Dortmund (d. Schoorel) on July 31, runner-up in Trani (l. to Darcis) following week, finalist in Genova (l. to Klizan) in September and titles in Napoli-2 (d. Giannessi) in October and Sao Leopoldo (d. Ciric) in November...

2010 -- The Argentine finished in Top 100 for second straight year and reached a career-high No. 51 on June 7 after his Grand Slam best 3rd RD showing at Roland Garros (l. to Cilic)…His best ATP World Tour result came in Nice in May when he advanced to SFs (d. Bellucci, l .to Verdasco)… Also QF in Sydney (l. to Benneteau) and Delray Beach (l. to eventual champion Gulbis)…Closed season with an eight-match losing streak after Roland Garros to finish season…Did not play after 1st RD exit at US Open due to back injury…In doubles, advanced to first ATP World Tour final in San Jose (w/Becker).

2009 -- The Argentine compiled a career-best season by finishing in Top 100 for first time…He won a personal-high 17 matches and reached his first ATP World Tour SF…Also reached QFs in three other tournaments on as many surfaces, in Acapulco on clay (ret. vs. Monfils), Eastbourne on grass (l. to Dancevic) and New Haven on hard (l. to Andreev)…Qualified for first Grand Slam tournament at Roland Garros and beat No. 16 Blake before losing in next round to Haas in five sets…In early August, reached SF in Los Angeles courtesy of a walkover against injured top seed Fish…Also defeated No. 5 seed Kunitsyn in 2nd RD before falling to Ball in SF…Finished with marks of 10-11 on hard, 4-4 on clay and 3-3 on grass…Earned a career-high $323,542.

2008 -- Finished just outside Top 100 at No. 102 with successful Challenger results…Compiled a 44-21 match record and one title in four finals…Won title in Medellin (d. Roitman) and runner-up in Bronx (l. to Dlouhy), Cali (l. to Daniel) and Asuncion (l. Vassallo-Arguello)…Also SF in four other Challengers…In his ATP World Tour debut in Kitzbühel, qualified and beat Gremelmayr before losing in next round to Melzer.

2007 -- Won Challenger titles at Cuenca (d. Bellucci) and Puebla (d. Olenjniczak) and reached final at Graz (l. to Hanescu). Finished with 26-22 Challenger record and in Top 200 for first time at No. 189.

2006 -- Reached QF or better in four Challenger events, including a final in Puebla, Mexico (l. to Kendrick). Posted a 15-10 Challenger record.

2005 -- In first season on Futures circuit, won Chile #6 event and also reached QF in clay court stops in Chile, Bolivia, and Argentina.

2013

Withdrew from Sao Paulo, on 11 February, due to a back injury…On 11 March, withdrew prior to ATP World Tour Masters 1000 Indian Wells 3R match versus Nadal due to a back injury…
