From The Editor
This issue we salute two of the most enduring players of the past 15 years - Fabrice Santoro and Jonas Bjorkman.
If you've never seen Santoro play live, rectify that this season, which will be the Frenchman's last. With slice forehands, double-handed volleys, soft hands and the imagination of J.K. Rowling, Santoro truly is 'the magician' that Pete Sampras dubbed him.
Jonas Bjorkman, at 35, has a lot on his plate, including a new baby, new doubles partner, new job as editor of Sweden's national tennis magazine, and another full schedule of singles and doubles in 2008. If he plays another two seasons, he likely will have played more matches than any player in ATP history (since 1973).
At the other end of the age spectrum, we look at the weight of expectations carried by 21-year-old Richard Gasquet, and how 18-year-old Donald Young worked his way into the Top 100 after recovering from the ills of being fast-tracked to ATP level before he was ready.
As always, I welcome your comments emailed to content@atpworldtour.com.
Enjoy!
